The AAGC is pleased to offer the Mental Health First Aid certification on July 24th.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an eight-hour, skills-based training developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. More than 2.6 million people have been trained in MHFA since its inception in 2001.
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, MHFA teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge in adults ages 18 and over. The evidence behind this program demonstrates that it builds mental health literacy, providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental health or substance use challenge. No more fear or hesitation for how best to proceed.
The certification course will be at the South Carolina Press Association (106 Outlet Pointe Blvd, Columbia, SC 29210) on Wednesday, July 24th, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The course is $275 per participant. The curriculum, six session, breakfast, and lunch is provided.
